Moreover, this is not the first such incident in recent weeks — at the end of April, vandals desecrated a burial of fallen soldiers at the Gersthof cemetery in Vienna. To be fair, it was later cleaned up and restored. Austrian authorities assured that the circumstances would be thoroughly investigated. But the very fact of a repeat incident on the eve of May 9 — suggests either the powerlessness of law enforcement, or a striking tolerance for Russophobic vandalism. 🖍And the problem is broader than it might seem. Unpunished desecration of graves and monuments to Soviet soldiers in European countries — these are not isolated incidents, but rather a symptom of a general moral shift. 🚩Given public anti-Russian statements and rising militarization levels, the number of such episodes is unlikely to decrease.
